Sextina Aquafina is a minor, recurring character in BoJack Horseman. Her first appearance was in Prickly-Muffin in Season 1.

Physical Appearance

Sextina is a light blue dolphin. Unlike real life dolphins, she has human arms and legs. She wears eyeliner and lipstick. The colors of her makeup and her outfits vary from scenes and episodes.

Background

History

Little is known about Sextina's background. She was born in early or late 2000.

Season 1

In a flashback from 2014, in Prickly-Muffin, A Ryan Seacrest Type describes Sextina as "a fourteen-year-old teenage dubstep wunderkind." She states in her interview, with A Ryan Seacrest Type, that she was a big fan of Sarah Lynn growing up.

Season 3

In Brrap Brrap Pew Pew, Diane becomes the ghostwriter for Sextina's Twitter account, and accidentally tweets (as Sextina) that she's getting an abortion.

The resulting controversy helps Sextina's career, so she decides to carry on pretending.

Sextina's tweet and music video, end up being inspiring and even educational, to many women. When Diane goes to for her abortion, a woman at the abortion clinic, says it helped her feel less alone.

In the end, Sextina actually becomes pregnant, and wants to keep the baby. As a result, Diane and Princess Carolyn work together, to hide this pregnancy. They also strategize, on how to keep Sextina relevant in the public eye, while she goes incognito.

Her name is a close variant of pop singer Awkwafina and Christina Aguilera's nickname "X-Tina," although her music, visual style and videography (such as "Get Dat Fetus Kill Dat Fetus") are more similar to Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Azealia Banks.
She's based off a woman that Raphael Bob-Waksberg and Lisa Hanawalt knew in high school.
She was a fan of Sarah Lynn growing up and listened to her music.
She claims she has sex for pleasure because she's a dolphin, which is true for real life dolphins.
She apparently doesn't have a dorsal fin, despite orca and shark characters in the show still being portrayed with dorsal fins.
She got her blowhole bleached.
She performed for Libyan dictator Gaddafi's cousin on his yacht.
Her dubstep song can be heard in the background of the house party at BoJack's house in Prickly-Muffin and again later in BoJack Kills, instrumentally.
