Raphael Matthew Bob-Waksberg is the creator, writer, and producer of BoJack Horseman.

Personal Life

Bob-Waksberg was raised in Palo Alto, California with his two sisters. He is Jewish; his mother and grandmother ran a Jewish book and gift store, and his father helped Russian Jews emigrate to the United States.

Growing up, he was influenced by shows like The SimpsonsSeinfeld, and The Larry Sanders Show.

He was diagnosed with ADHD and his academic performance in high school was poor, but through participating in theater productions he met illustrator Lisa Hanawalt.

Hanawalt's drawings inspired him to create BoJack Horseman, and she became the show's production designer and producer.

Bob-Waksberg attended Bard College. Bob-Waksberg was once a roommate of Adam Conover, creator, and host of Adam Ruins Everything.1

Career

Bob-Waksberg performs voices for various characters on BoJack Horseman. As a member of the Olde English comedy troupe he co-wrote and appeared in The Exquisite Corpse Project.

He will be the script doctor of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, scheduled for a 2019 release.

In July 2016, it was announced that Bob-Waksberg was writing a short story collection titled Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory: Bang-Your-Knee, Bust-Your-Heart-Open Love Stories, to be published by Knopf Publishing.

In March 2018, it was announced that he would be be co-creating the Amazon animated series, Undone, which revolves around a woman named Alma who discovers a "new relationship with time" after a near-fatal car crash and uses this to learn more about the truth behind her father's death.

He is also slated as the executive producer on the Netflix animated series, Tuca & Bertie, created by BoJack Horseman production designer, Lisa Hanawalt.1
