Charley Witherspoon is a recurring character in BoJack Horseman. He works at Vigor and is the son of Mr. Witherspoon, the owner of the agency. His first appearance was in Say Anything, in Season 1.

Physical Appearance

Charley is an adult green male tree frog with orange eyes with large black pupils, orange dots on his face, and orange hands with sticky pads on the ends of his fingers. His neck is light blue. He has black spots on the back of his neck and throat.

According to the model sheets, he is roughly 6 ft tall.

He wears a tan button-down shirt tucked into cropped dark blue jeans, white socks, brown loafers, and a maroon necktie.

As a CEO, he wears a black and white checkered shirt with a red polka-dotted handkerchief. On top, he wears a thick indigo double-breasted business jacket with white buttons. He wears white pants and brown loafers.

Personality

Starting as an intern of Vigor, Charley had low self-esteem and a running gag dealing with the sticky pads on the ends of his fingers.

He later becomes president at Vigor.

History

Charley was the Chief Editor of the Harvard Lampoon magazine.

Season 1

Much to her dismay, Charley is promoted to Princess Carolyn's personal assistant in Say Anything when Vigor merges with another agency.

Vanessa Gekko, Princess Carolyn's rival, offers to use Princess Carolyn's assistant, Laura, as the merger left them short on assistants. After Vanessa gets demoted, Princess Carolyn gets Laura back.

Season 2

In Season 2, Charley has been promoted to the top of the agency. In Out to Sea, Charley is seen crying, and mentions that his dad had a stroke.

Following his father's death, Charley is promoted to President of the company. Struggling to run the agency, Charley desires some experienced help running the company and solicits Judah Mannowdog to convince Princess Carolyn to return to Vigor.

Season 4

In Ruthie, while at the jewelry store, he meets up with Princess Carolyn and mentions to her about the offer he made last year to merge companies. However, Judah told him she wasn't interested, which surprised him.

Season 6

Charley appears briefly in The Kidney Stays in the Picture, caught up in the chaos of the assistants' strike. Charley had apparently become dependent on his assistants, to remember his passwords and the answers to his password recovery questions. He didn't even know his mother's maiden name.

Trivia

While Charley is a tree frog his father is of a seemingly different species of frog, implying he is either adopted or his mother (who is never seen) is a tree frog.
