Background

History

Ayako is a human Japanese center call girl who uses her day job to scam people. She is sweet and charming with Todd Chavez but then later shows her true colors.

Season 1

In BoJack Hates the Troops, in her first appearance, Ayako comes off as a cute, charming, and nice woman who is talking through webcam with Todd.

Red flags are raised, seeing she already wants to know Todd's mother's maiden name. Todd, however, ignores this.

She goes so far as to pretend and acting like she does not speak English—when she in actual fact, she can speak it fluently.

Later, she drops the sweet and nice facade and yells at him for lying to her about being rich, while only having a bit less than a hundred dollars in English.

She's needlessly cruel to Todd, once the gig's up and she doesn't get the money, she thought she would.

She angrily cusses at him in Japanese when she realizes he has lied to her. Presumably, she has scammed multiple others as well. However, she shows no remorse or consequences for her actions.

As it turns out, her scam doesn't go the way she intended: she receives little money for it and has wasted a lot of time in planning.

In Our A-Story is a "D" Story, she makes a brief cameo at the airport.
